This year, Tim and I kept our travel within the States, and it’s been great to finally get to visit cities that have been on our list for a while. This strawberry pie-tart was baked in Fayetteville, NC, and was made with strawberries we picked from my first trip ever to a strawberry patch.

And just like that, summer is [edit: almost] over. I’ve had quite an adventure the past couple months, and I feel like I owe you all an explanation for my silence. Maybe I don’t owe you an explanation, because that makes it sounds like I’ve done something very wrong, but I’d like to reconnect with you as a reader of this blog. I appreciate that some of you check in with me and ask, “Have you been baking?” which I usually respond to by spewing excuse after excuse why I have not been baking. Dinner at Les Papilles was our favorite meal of the trip. I’d read all about the mandatory prix fixe dinner from “the chocolate guy” and had decided we will eat there while in Paris. I was psyched once the decision was made, but then I realized we needed a reservation. I speak zero French. What did I do?
