Love

Happy Valentine’s Day. There, I said it. I admit, going against the norm appeals to me (I have “uniqueness syndrome” from having such a unique name), and it’s partially why I don’t typically celebrate this day. I’ve become a very practical person, so I avoid crowds and enjoy saving a buck whenever possible.

But I do have something to say about love. Love is the very reason why I bake for others, and therefore the reason why this blog exists. It motivates me to stay up all night cooking and baking to show what is sometimes hard for me to put into words.

It’s also why I love weddings and will do almost anything for friends on their big day. So on this day celebrating all kinds of love, watch this endearing video of Sooji and Albert who wed last July on Liberty View Farm in Highland, NY. I had the honor of being their wedding planner, and I’m happy to share this snippet of their love story with y’all today.

Another not-baking post here, but I had to share. Ultimate wedding blog Style Me Pretty is featuring Joe & Cheryl’s wedding today! Along with the post is a full photo gallery of shots by Minnow Park. Also peruse the other posts for all your wedding inspiration needs. By the way, you need not be engaged to look at wedding blogs. Take it from someone who’s been reading wedding blogs for longer than I care to admit, I’m still a big fan and love saving ideas for future weddings. Oh, I know I’m not the only one, so come on, go check it out!

Joe & Cheryl’s Wedding

When Cheryl and Joe asked me to coordinate their wedding, I was thrilled to be involved because as a close friend of Cheryl’s, I knew it was going to be great. She’s the ultimate Jill of all trades, as she can make anything and everything herself. Cheryl and Joe were married last September at the beautiful Metropolitan Building in Long Island City, where they created the most tailored and romantic setting for a wedding. There was hardly a thing in the room that wasn’t made by Cheryl, Joe, or one of their friends.

Q&Y’s Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Q&Y stands for Quyen and Yedeh, two dentists who were married this past May in the beautiful Artists for Humanity Epicenter in South Boston.

As a college friend (to Yedeh) and fellow Texan (to Quyen, actually to both of them), I was honored to be one of the wedding helpers, especially since they had meticulously planned every single and last detail! Being an obsessive planner, I found all sorts of comfort in pouring over the wedding spreadsheets and checklists they sent out. I know there are some of you that are like me too. We should probably form a support group.
